A HOME FOR 5 OR 10 MONTHS

The host families of the four School districts offer the students during their stay:

• Active participation in the family life, which also gives the chance to get acquainted with Canadian culture and traditional values
• Own, fully furnished room for the guest student
• Full board
• Care and support during the stay
• In case of an emergency host parents will act on behalf of the students parents.

You will find the Canadians as warm hearted and broad minded. Your host parents will certainly try to integrate you in their family from the very beginning of your stay. You, on your part should also do everything to reciprocate their warm and friendly attitude. Like native students, you should always show discipline and respect for your host parents and teachers.

Except for one school district, all other school districts have their own home stay coordinator who carefully selects and screens the host families and gives them intensive training in dealing with foreign students. The Home Stay Coordinator together with the Coordinators of the High School are the connection between the student and the host family. This direct communication leads to close home/school co-operation. In case of any problem the coordinator will immediately help resolve the dispute.
If necessary the student will ever find a person to talk with in ‘his High School’.
