Hills International Student Program
Golden Hills School District is located
in Alberta, Canada. Alberta is known for its famous western Canadian
hospitality. The caring community of Golden Hills School District,
Alberta offers international students with exciting opportunities
and adventures in learning. The schools have strong academic programs
based on the Province of Alberta’s Program of Studies.
International students have the opportunity
to choose between HOME STAY and BOARDING IN A RESIDENCE. Both
alternatives provide students with a comfortable living environment
for study and to learn the Canadian language and culture.

Community of Golden Hills
The safe and beautiful communities
of GHSD offer many interesting aspects to international students.
New friendships are just waiting to be built with warm and friendly
people living there. There are many recreational and cultural
opportunities to experience. Two major attractions for both visitors
and natives of Alberta are the beautiful Rocky Mountains and the
Alberta Badlands. They are located within an hour’s drive
and offer opportunities for exciting field trips, visits etc.
GHSD is located in close proximity
to Calgary, a major Canadian City known for its thriving oil and
gas industry, national sports teams, and for hosting the 1988
Winter Olympic Games. International Students will experience the
best of both worlds with these small, quiet communities and will
at the same time have convenient access to the amenities of this
large, metropolitan city.
Examples of recreational activities
available in the communities are Swimming, Downhill Skiing, Ice
Skating, Hockey, Bowling, Tennis, Curling, Golf, Boating, and
Hiking.
The communities and surrounding areas
also offer cultural activities like, Rosebud Theatre of the Arts,
Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology, Heritage Park, Calgary
Stampede, Visiting a Cattle Ranch or Grain Farm, Outdoor Campfire
and Weiner Roast, Horseshoe Canyon, and more!
Program
Information
In addition to the main courses Alberta
Learning Academic Program with courses in English, Mathematics,
Social Studies, Science, as well as Career and Life Management
GHSD offers for example, Languages, French Immersion, Fine Arts
courses, Band, Choir, Drama and Career & Technology. Besides
that GHSD offers a wide range of other additional electives. Students
may also take part in a big variety of extra-curricular activities.

A full ESL** program will be offered
to students requiring extra help. They will be assessed periodically,
to ensure the best quality education possible.

Stay
GHSD’s International Services
Home Stay Program is committed to providing caring, nurturing
placements for international students. It strives to provide the
International Students with loving environment that promotes academic,
social, emotional and physical well-being. Home Stay families
are selected carefully on the basis of special criteria.
Residency
In Alberta GHSD is the only public
school system with a boarding facility for international students.

GHSD Residency is located in a High School. The residence provides
students with a comfortable, safe environment that allows them
to focus on their studies, as well as interact socially with their
peers.
