INFORMATION ON BRITISH COLUMBIA
The province of British Columbia,
also known by the abbreviation B.C. is
situated
in the most western part of Canada. Here are the Rocky Mountains,
one of the largest mountain ranges in North America. The West
Coast of B.C. offers important sea routes to the Pacific and Asia.
Vancouver, with a population of 2,01 million is the third largest
city in Canada and has the biggest seaport on the entire coast
of North America. This vibrant city with its modern glass on sky
scrapers and multicultural society reflects the art of living
of people from all over the world. The capital city Victoria is
located on the southern part of Vancouver Island. This city, with
about 326.000 inhabitants, has its own charm. Vancouver Island,
facing the mainland, is
about
480 km long. British Columbia and especially Vancouver Island
with its mild climate and breath taking natural beauty offer friends
of outdoor activities a wide range of sports activities including
riding, climbing, water skiing, surfing, yachting, wild water
rafting, tennis, golf, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding,
fly fishing, canoeing, sea kayaking or simply hiking. Every year
people from other parts of Canada as well as from of all over
the world come to settle down in this region.
