International Education in Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows
Since 1993, School District 42 Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows, has educated students of all ages from all over the world.
Regulated by the provincial government, School District 42 is located in southern British Columbia, 44 kilometres east of the city of Vancouver. The area is known as Ridge Meadows to reflect the neighbouring communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
Our District prides itself in providing the highest standards in education, public safety and health. We are known for excellence in education – high-tech, accredited schooling, qualified teachers and motivated students.
Our students excel in University and College entrance
programs, fine arts, and career education. We provide excellent opportunities for international students to study in a Canadian High School and to prepare for their future University life.
School District 42 also has a strong Canadian university
preparation program for students who have completed secondary school in their home country. We have accredited partnerships with respected regional universities, and we consistently produce championship-level sports teams and University and College scholarship recipients.

Homestay Information
Students requiring a homestay will be placed in a home within reasonable distance of their school. Placements will be in single-family dwellings with English speaking families to provide stability and depth to students' cultural education and to support their English Language studies. The individual needs of the students and their preferences for hobbies, sports and other activities will be considered when placing students and families together. The current homestay fee covers the student’s room and board. Students are responsible for their own personal entertainment costs and personal supplies.

High School in Canada
This program is directed to high school students between 13 and 19 years of age. It has been designed for international students who wish to study for one or more school terms in Canada, while living with a Canadian homestay family.
The high school year from September to June has a Semester program (September to February; February to June) and a Year program (September to June). International students follow the same plan of studies established by the provincial Ministry of Education and they integrate into their schools in the same way that Canadian teenagers do.
Programs
Students are placed into one of our six secondary schools with the goal of fully integrating them into the regular classrooms. A one-year secondary school program is comprised of eight courses of study, including the mandatory core subjects of English, mathematics, social studies and sciences as well as several courses of the student’s own choice. If needed English as a Second language (E.S.L.) instruction is also offered to help students adjust to the Canadian school and to cope with classroom English.

High School Preparation Program
This program is directed to high school students between 13 and 19 years of age. It has been designed for international students who wish to follow their studies in a Canadian High School at the appropriate grade level, but do not receive credits. The students are expected to participate in all aspects of class discussions, assignment and projects. Programs are held in our secondary schools as space permits.
