International Education in Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows

High School in Canada

This program is directed to high school students between 13 and 19 years of age. It has been designed for international students who wish to study for one or more school terms in Canada, while living with a Canadian homestay family.

The high school year from September to June has a Semester program (September to February; February to June) and a Year program (September to June). International students follow the same plan of studies established by the provincial Ministry of Education and they integrate into their schools in the same way that Canadian teenagers do.

Programs

Students are placed into one of our six secondary schools with the goal of fully integrating them into the regular classrooms. A one-year secondary school program is comprised of eight courses of study, including the mandatory core subjects of English, mathematics, social studies and sciences as well as several courses of the student’s own choice. If needed English as a Second language (E.S.L.) instruction is also offered to help students adjust to the Canadian school and to cope with classroom English.

Courses of study include

Arts/Graphic Arts, Mathematics, Business Education, Physical Education, English, Communications, Sciences, Fine Arts (Drama, Music), Social Studies, Home Economics, Technology, Education, Languages
