Vancouver – A Wonderful Place to Live and Learn
The city of Vancouver is located in the southwest corner of British Columbia on Canada’s Pacific coast. Our City is situated between the mountains and the ocean, and has a moderate climate that we enjoy year-round. Vancouver’s population (1,900,000) is made up a variety of ethnic and religious groups. Students have the chance to live in one of the most progressive, safe and beautiful cities in the world. Whistler ski resort is just one and a half hour away. There is local skiing and snowboarding at 3 nearby mountain resorts.
Vancouver schools are ranked first in B.C. for provincial examination results and university scholarship recipients. International students can enjoy a wide variety of excellent academic, fine arts, language and computer studies in Vancouver’s public secondary schools. Besides that Vancouver schools offer many elective courses depending on the school. Students with strong academic achievement may study Advanced Placement courses in calculus, computer studies, literature, history and science at some schools. In addition to that each secondary school offers a variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs. These offer a great way to make friends, pursue interests and use English.
Support for International Students
The International Education Program offered by the Vancouver School Board hosts many successful students from around the world since 1985.
Vancouver schools offer a culturally rich cross-section of students, instructors and counsellors who contribute to the high quality of education in our schools. The Vancouver School District has years of experience teaching English As A Second Language (ESL) students to acquire English language skills successfully.
