Western School District
- Corner Brook
The Province Newfoundland and Labrador
is located on the North East corner of North America and is the
gateway between Europe and North America. It is situated in the
most eastern part of Canada and has a population of 555.000 people.
Newfoundland is the island portion of the province. Western School
District on Newfoundland has four distinct seasons. The summers
are warm, and the winters are cold and snowy with an average temperature
of -5°.

Students in their new homes. The Western region of Newfoundland
and Labrador is known for the hospitality of its residents, the
richness of its cultural life, and its energy in all four seasons.
It is home to the city of Corner Brook, one of the friendliest
and safest cities in the world. Corner Brook offers students an
education tailored to meet their individual needs and inspired
by the surrounding natural wonders. It also offers various indoor
and outdoor activities from art to athletics – from music
recitals to robotics. Outdoor activities include mountain biking,
sea-kayaking, golf fishing, whale and bird watching! You can hike
in world famous Gros Morne National Park and ski Marble Mountain
from mid December to mid April! Marble Mountain is best skiing
resort east of the Rockies and was place of Canada Winter Games
in 1999.

Stay
Home Stay Families offer a secure
and friendly environment. They are carefully chosen based upon
a positive match with international students. They welcome
students and integrate them in their family activities. They also
help students adapt to and enjoy the environment in Newfoundland,
practice their English and learn more about Canadian culture.
The home stay coordinator also provides on-going support throughout
the placement
